How to Insert an Image into Excel comment
When you paste an image into Excel, it will be placed on the drawing layer "above" the cell grid, and this means that the image will always float. To embed your picture into a spreadsheet, you could also follow these steps using a comment box:
- Add a comment to the cell.
- Right click the cell and select Show/Hide Comments. Right click the border of the comment and select Format comment.
- Open the Colors and Lines tab and select Fill effects from the Color drop down box.
- Select the picture tab and browse for the picture you want to insert.
- To keep the picture in proportion, add a check mark to Lock Picture Aspect Ratio.
- Selected picture will be inserted as a background for the comment.
However, this approach has several shortcomings:
- You need to save the pictures first.
- You can paste only one picture per cell.
- You can’t use both text and pictures in comments because they will overlap.
- If the picture is large, scrolling is not permitted.
- Viewing pictures is inconvenient because they will either hide the data under them or move out of the screen area.
As a better option try inserting images in your Excel spreadsheets using XLnotes. It provides you with a rich text editor where you can store formatted text that contains pictures, tables, and hyperlinks. Also, you can save web pages and files in XLnotes.
