Inserting Hyperlinks in Excel
By using the hyperlink function in Excel, you can link to your local documents, web pages, and other sheets in your document. To insert a hyperlink, right click on a selected cell and choose Hyperlink:
- To link to a web page, type its URL in the Address bar.
- To link to a local file, browse to its location on your computer and select it.
- To link to another sheet in the document, click Place in Document and choose the desired sheet and cell.
A major inconvenience when using hyperlinks in Excel is the one hyperlink per cell limitation. To overcome this serious limitation, use the XLnotes add-in when saving hyperlinks in Excel. It allows users to save many bookmarks, web pages, and attachments in an Excel cell. You can view saved hyperlinks directly in Excel using the XLnotes built-in browser. Also, with the XLnotes rich text editor you can store formatted text that contain pictures, tables, and hyperlinks.
